LANIER HEIGHTS POP-UPS

“... Lanier Heights pop-ups are among the best examples
of the right way to boost density. From the street,
most range from nearly invisible to aesthetically inoffensive
... to change the zoning to allow less density
than is currently permitted ... would be a mistake.”

The downzoners posted this flyer to warn
everyone of the imminent destruction
of Lanier Heights. Pictured are back alley
views, not visible from the street.

We provide street views, below:

This is the pop-up that ate the neighborhood
Yes.

This is just a rendering of a project under
construction. Do you see the danger yet?

This pop-up is also a pop-front and pop-back.

The Lanier Heights version of
Kalorama's "Belmont Tower."

The "Obama House" really towers
over its neighbors. Yes, it does.

"The Pearl" fits nicely between the
row house on the left and apartment
building on the right.

The one genuine odd-ball in the mix.
They flipped the back yard to the front
and set the front door well back on the lot.
But they kept it as a single family house,
rather than a multi-dwelling building.

And finally: Not a pop-up.
